Lexie Beemer
Hi! My name is Lexie Beemer, and I am a PhD student at the University of Michigan studying Kinesiology with a focus on creating equitable physical activity programs for kids.
I have been lifting at Lily Weightlifting in Ann Arbor since the fall of 2017! During undergrad at UofM I competed on the Women’s varsity rowing team and over the summers did CrossFit. Once my four years of rowing were up, I knew I wanted to keep doing something that I could compete and set goals in and consistently train for. Plus, I had been a part of a team of some sort since I was 8 years old and there’s nothing better. Insert Weightlifting! In 2020 I received my USAW Level 1 and am beginning to learn the coaching ropes!
I am grateful to be a member of the Michigan WSO. In line with my current interests as a PhD student I want to help improve the accessibility of the Sport and play a positive role in creating safe and inclusive environments for the Weightlifters in our great state! When I am not on campus or in the gym you can find me playing with my one-year-old Golden Retriever, Zeke!
If you see me at a meet or out in the wild, please say hi!
